Glen was born in Texas, grew up in Florida and has lived in DC, MD, LA, TN and VA as an adult. He grew up in a cult and became a Christian in 1995, shortly after his conversion, the cult also denounced its beliefs and began to profess and teach orthodox Christianity. He was baptized the same day as his girlfriend, Sophia, who later became his wife on August 11, 1996. The two have been blessed with four children, two boys and two girls. Vocationally he has worked in food service his entire career, most of that time working in and with nursing homes and retirement communities. He is currently working as a regional manager supporting communities in VA, NC, TN, GA and MI. His hobbies are cooking and golf. He is a much better cook than golfer, so he spends more time doing that. His favorite thing about CtK is the commitment to community groups, growing together in grace. He also enjoys co-laboring with his fellow leaders.
Doug and his wife Mary became members of CTK in October, 2010. Doug and Mary were married in 1979 and have two grown children. Their son, Daniel, and his wife Amy live in Huntersville, NC, and their daughter Katie lives in Roanoke and is a member of CtK. Doug serves on the Session of CtK. He is a member of the Hunting Hills Community Group, serves on the Finance Committee, and assists with teaching adult Sunday school. Doug recently retired from a career in the banking and financial services industry, and is currently serving as the Interim Church Administrator at CTK.
Tobias is a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary with an M.A. in Exegetical Theology. He feels privileged to be a part of the faculty at Faith Christian School in Roanoke, and has been teaching classical languages and theology since 2004. Tobias and his wife, Elizabeth, have five children, Ada, Machen, Lily, Margaret, and Beatrice. In his spare time he enjoys being with his family, reading all sorts of books, roasting coffee, and handcrafting furniture, including American Windsor chairs. He and his family have been worshiping at CTK since 2009.
Charles and his family (wife Wendy, daughter Millie and son Henry) have been members of CTK since 2009. He has previously served one term on the Diaconate and continues to serve on CTK’s ministry at the Roanoke County Jail, on a set-up team, and as an offering counter. Charlie is an attorney that specializes in fundraising regulation and civil rights litigation.
Bob became a Christian at age 28, and retired from work after a 33-year career as an engineer with GE. He and his wife Sunny have been married since 1972; they have three children, Dave, Katie, and Robbie, and seven grandchildren. They have been part of CtK since its earliest beginnings, during which time Bob served as an elder and adult Sunday School teacher.
Frank and his wife Eleanor have been married since 1987 and have two great sons, Frank and Daniel. Frank has been part of CtK from its founding as part of the Temporary Session that helped plant CtK. In addition, he has been involved in various church committees and various avenues of fellowship including community groups and church set-up teams. From a career perspective, he has been in the telecommunications arena since 1987, primarily working in sales and business development with a focus on the Department of Defense and the various agencies and branches of the US Armed Forces.
Chris Griffith is husband to Laura and dad to Lorien. The Griffiths have been blessed by the sound Gospel-saturated grace-infused doctrinal teaching along with kind and generous Christian fellowship since becoming members of Christ the King in the summer of 2012. Chris serves as a deacon and leads a community group. He works as an assistant for a local law firm. Laura is a substitute Sunday school teacher, church bookkeeper and full-time homeschool mom. Both serve on the hospitality committee.
From Louisiana originally, Mike moved to Virginia in the 1970’s and married his wife, Kathleen. They have two adult daughters, both of which are married, and one grandchild. Retired now, Mike worked as a retail and consultant pharmacist for nearly 40 years. They began attending CtK in 2006, and Mike has served on the Diaconate for over two terms. Other ministries have included teaching, leading small group, helping organize set-up teams, local missions, and mission trips to El Salvador.
Ben is a “Third-Culture Kid”, of perverse and contrary spirit, saved by Divine Grace. He is the husband to Rachel, father of Jack, Nora & Susie. He was installed as a CtK Deacon in the Summer of 2014. He works at Graham White Mfg. Co. as a mechanical engineer. Ben says, “I acknowledge that I am a stranger and an exile on the earth, and seeking a homeland. As it is, I desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. (Hebrews 11:13,16) ‘…For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.'” — Hebrews 13:14
Gary has lived in the Roanoke area for over 20 years. Before that he lived in Arizona and California. He was raised in the Lutheran church and, after moving to Virginia 20 years ago, spent some time in a Baptist church before moving to another local PCA church, Westminster. He’s been with Christ the King since it started in 2006. By God’s grace, he met his wife, Janice, about that same time. She is a wonderful and godly wife and mother to their three kids: Anna, Sam and Kaitlyn. Gary works as a software developer during the day.
