Why Small Groups?
Being equipped in so much more than just learning. In order for any of us to be equipped we must begin to:
Apply God’s Word and his grace to our lives
Learning the fullness of God’s grace purchased for us through Christ is bedrock truth for transforming us as His disciples. As a result the first two goals for our small groups is to be a studying community and a praying community.
Care for each other
We are told in Scripture to: “encourage, serve, rejoice, weep with, correct, instruct, pray for, sing to, build up, accept and love one another.” These commands are best lived out in the personal relationships. For that reason we want our small groups to increasingly become a social community.
Exercise our gifts
We need to create places where spiritual gifts can be discovered and developed. Church members are encouraged not to merely “receive,” but rather to invest themselves in relationships with others, supporting each other in Christ. We desire to become a serving community, which is the third purpose for our small groups.
Reach out
Far from being closed communities, these small groups are designed to welcome new people. We welcome new people who want to investigate the Christian faith or simply investigate our church. Christ the King is a place where we welcome seekers and recognize all of us are in process. As a result, we desire to always have room for another to join us.
