Missions
August 2010: Members of CTK Roanoke served My Fathers House in El Salvador.
No Sacred-Secular dichotomy.
We seek to teach our members that the notion that the only meaningful, God-glorifying activities are those that are explicitly Christian through the use of words, clothing, or recreation is contrary to the teaching of Scripture. For example the idea that “other pursuits” which do not explicitly identify themselves as Christian are “secular” and are to be avoided is a failure to recognize the inherent goodness of God’s creation and that all of it is to be received by him as good. Instead, we seek to acknowledge that all of life is to be lived “Soli Deo Gloria” — to the Glory of God alone.
“Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (I Cor 10:31).
We are committed to being a “Planting Church”
Christ the King exists to start other churches and ministries of the gospel. We are asking God to make us an planting church with a membership of no more than 500 that will, over the course of several generations, cause many kingdom ‘ripple-effects’ throughout Roanoke, SW Virginia, the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. Central to these ‘ripple-effects’ will be church planting, church revitalization, campus ministry, domestic and foreign missions and mercy ministry in the greater SW Virginia region.
We are committed to a “Global Missions Mindset”
We will be committed to being both a supporting and a sending church for the extension of the Kingdom unto the ends of the earth. Through finances, prayer, short-term missions projects and sending long-term labors, we will seek to be faithful to the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus. Visit the Global Missions page for a list and map of the global missionaries Christ the King Presbyterian Church supports.
